Ship tour

My smart and wonderful sister reminded me that I never showed off the ship on my blog so when I gave her the tour, she took pictures of everything she thought you all would want to see (that I haven't showed off already!)

We have two dining halls on the ship, the more formal Main Dining Room, and the less formal Garden Lounge. I eat almost all our meals in the Garden Lounge, unless we have family dinner!

Every lunch and dinner is complete with a peanut butter & jelly station... this was a rare day when we had bananas. At dinner tonight we were joking about how when certain things come out there is a "feeding frenzy" - bananas, choice cereals (like frosted flakes and lucky charms), and brownies are usually gone as soon as the tray is placed down.

We have two classrooms attached to the Garden Lounge - this is the one where we have our daily staff meetings.

The Piano Lounge is a hotspot for students to hang out.. There is a snack bar (way in the back) and a piano (behind that little partition) - lots of homework, card games, and music happening here.

Our bookstore (only open in international waters) has two sides. One is clothing and the other is school supplies, bathroom stuff, and other trinkets.

The student art classes display their work in a little gallery by the library.

The library!

An example of a classroom. They are all set up completely differently. Some have chairs with desks, some have long tables. All are awesome.

The Union is our biggest programming space. There are lectures open to the whole community almost every night and this is where we do a lot of our big programs like the Talent Show and Trivia Night.

In the front of the Union is the Student Life Office. We share three computers and lots of supplies. The printer is awful. It's a popular spot during the day, unless it's rocky. Since it's at the front of the ship, we have nicknamed it "the puke closet" because it can make anyone sea sick on a rocky day!

Past voyages have left behind all kinds of things in here including notes and magnets.. our door is a little messy in typical student life fashion!

At some point, a very smart person helped us figure out military time which came in handy early in the voyage!

Though our misplaced "s" is a little embarrassing, the faculty/staff lounge is a safe haven for us! It's the only place on the ship that students aren't allowed. We have happy hour from 5-6 daily, and then the bar is open from 9-11 each night. During the day it's a place for quiet reading/grading, etc... Nights it is usually rocking with dance parties, karaoke, birthday parties, and other functions.

People who make donations can leave quotes on the barstools.

Deck 7 is awesome. This is where a lot of work outs happen, and a lot of sun bathing.

The pool bar has a lot of snacks and good times. It doubles as a bar when the students have beverage service in the evenings.

On the other side of the pool is all the weight lifting equipment - open unless the waves are too rough.

The courts provide basketball, dodgeball, and volleyball... we've only lost a few dodgeballs overboard! :)

Inside Deck 7 is the wellness center. This has the spa (complete with Sauna and Steam room), salon, and cardio equipment.

And that's mostly everything! I've shown you all my cabin, and the bridge (where we normally aren't allowed) already. If you think of something else you want to see, leave me a comment and I'll add it! :)

All in all, the ship is a great place to call home temporarily - but talk about not being able to leave work! At least when you live in on land, you can drive to Starbucks to get away for a little!! HAHA
